Bearcats Seventh at Pacific Invitational

BANKS, ORE. -- Willamette University and seven other teams completed action at the Pacific Invitational in women's golf at the Quail Valley Golf Club on Sunday, Feb. 28. George Fox University had the best team score, finishing the event at 645 (320-325) to win by 60 strokes. George Fox was led by the individual winner Mandy Cameron, who carded a 77 in her first round and a 79 in her second round for a two-day total of 156.

Haylee Chung (Fr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) was WU's top finisher as she carded a 92 on the first day and 100 on day two. She finished in 26th place. Serena Cualoping (Fr., Makaita Metro Manila, Philippines/International School of Manila) captured 31st place with a two-day total of 205.

Cameron, the overall individual winner, beat second place Ashley King of Northwest Christian University by four strokes. King carded an 82 on the second day and finished at 160 for the weekend.

Pacific University claimed second in the team standings at 705. The University of California at Santa Cruz was third with a score of 716. Northwest Christian was fourth at 726, Linfield College was fifth at 735 and Corban College placed sixth at 872. The Bearcats concluded the tournament in seventh with a team score of 880.

Lewis & Clark College did not receive an overall team score. The Pioneers were unable to enter a full team during the opening round on Saturday, but fielded a complete team in the second round.

Willamette will participate in the Puget Sound Invitational on March 4-5 in Tacoma, Wash. The tournament will be held at Fircrest Country Club.
