Chung Claims Ninth Place at Puget Sound Invitational

TACOMA, WASH. -- The Willamette University women's golf team placed fourth at the Puget Sound Invitational, as the two-day event ended on Friday, March 5 at the Fircrest Country Club. Haylee Chung (Fr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) led the Bearcats by finishing ninth on the leaderboard with a score of 185 (97-88) after improving her score by nine strokes over the first round.

Serena Cualoping (Fr., Manila, Philippines/International School) of Willamette tied for 17th with a score of 205 (100-105).

Sarah Bicker, from the University of Puget Sound, carded a 77 on the second day to claw her way back from a 5-stroke deficit and finish tied for first place with Brinn Hovde from Linfield College. Bicker and Hovde (79-82) finished the two-day invitational with cumulative scores of 161.

In the team standings, Puget Sound finished in first place at 682, 39 strokes better than second place Linfield College at 721. Pacific Lutheran University placed third at 749. Willamette finished in fourth place with a team score of 858.

The Bearcats will host the Willamette Invitational on March 15 at Illahe Hills Country Club at 11 a.m. (PST).
