BANKS, ORE. -- Freshman golfer Haylee Chung (Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) of Willamette University shot an 87 during the second day of the Pacific Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 27 to move up four spots and take 13th place in the final individual standings. Chung, who shot a 93 in the first round, achieved a 36-hole score of 180.

Alex Johnson (So., Salem, OR/Blanchet Catholic School), also from Willamette, tied for 14th place with Lydia Smith of Linfield College at 182. Johnson carded an 87 in the first round and a 95 in the second, while Smith shot 91-91.

Brianna Nap of George Fox University won medalist honors by five strokes. She carded a 155 for the two-day event, including the low round of the tournament with a 75 on Sunday. Nap held a two-stroke lead to start the second round, after shooting an 80 on Saturday.

Ashley King from Northwest Christian University finished in second place with a score of 160 (82-78). Brittany Johnston of Linfield was third at 162 (82-80), while Brynn Hurdus of Linfield was fourth at 167 (85-82). Three golfers from George Fox tied for fifth place at 171: Mandy Cameron (85-86), Abby Mann (87-84) and Kelsey Morrison (90-81).

George Fox won the team title with a score of 665 (340-325). Linfield placed second at 683 (346-337) and Pacific University was third at 728 (370-358). Northwest Christian took fourth at 731 (380-351).

Willamette placed fifth in the team standings with a score of 805. The Bearcats shot 404 on the first day and 401 in the second round.

The Bearcats will return to action on Monday, Oct. 5, when they will host the Willamette Invitational. The 18-hole tournament will be held at the Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Ore.
