Johnson Ties for Seventh on First Day of Pacific Invitational in Women's Golf

BANKS, ORE. -- Alex Johnson (So., Salem, OR/Blanchet Catholic School) from Willamette University was tied for seventh place in the individual standings after the first round of the Pacific Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 26. Johnson and Abby Mann of George Fox University each carded an 87. Brianna Nap of George Fox held first place after shooting an 80.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 27, when the team will play the final 18 holes. Nap owns a two-stroke lead over Brittany Johnston of Linfield College and Ashley King of Northwest Christian University, who ended the first round tied for second at 82.

Mandy Cameron of George Fox and Brynn Hurdus of Linfield were tied for fourth place after each carded an 85. Whitney Clunes from GFU was sixth with an 86, one stroke in front of Johnson and Mann.

Freshman Haylee Chung (Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) was Willamette's second scorer. She concluded the round tied for 17th with a 93.

In the team standings, George Fox shot 342 and held a six-stroke lead. Linfield was second at 348 and Pacific University was third at 370. Northwest Christian was fourth with a score of 380 and Willamette was fifth at 404.
