Women Finish 8th at NWC Spring Classic

YAKIMA, WASH. -- The Willamette University women's golf team finished eighth in the team standings at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic on Sunday, April 11 at the Apple Tree Golf Course. George Fox University captured the overall title with a score of 665 (341-324).

Brianna Nap (George Fox), who was tied for second after the first day, claimed the overall title. Nap finished with a score of 161 (82-79).

Emily Travis (Whitworth University) had the lead after the first day but could not hang on. She finished in second place with a score of 162 (76-86).

Haylee Chung (Fr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) was the top finisher for the Bearcats. Chung shot a 90 in the second round for a two-day total of 189. She finished tied for 28th overall.

Serena Cualoping (Fr., Manila, Philippines, International School) finished tied for 37th overall. Cualoping finished with a score of 205 (100-105).

George Fox claimed the team title with a score of 665 (341-324). Whitworth took second 7 strokes off the pace at 672 (331-341). Linfield College was third at 688 (343-345) and the University of Puget Sound was fourth at 694(337-357).

Pacific University placed fifth with a score of 718 (361-357), while Whitman College was sixth at 768 (380-388). Pacific Lutheran University took seventh at 787 (401-386), Willamette was eighth at 901 (457-444). Lewis & Clark College competed without a complete team and did not qualify for the team standings.

The NWC Spring Classic and the NWC Fall Classic each count for one-fourth of the overall conference title. The final half of the NWC title will be determined at the Northwest Conference Championship on April 25-26.
