Willamette Defeats Corban in Dual Meet

Smith Earns Medalist Honors for the Bearcats

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University earned the top three individual finishes as the Bearcats defeated Corban University during a dual meet in women's golf on Saturday, March 3 at the Oak Knoll Golf Course. The Bearcats registered a team score of 365, while Corban concluded the 18-hole event with a score of 406.

Nicole Smith (Fr., Portland, OR/Westview HS) achieved medalist honors with a score of 84. She won the individual title by four strokes over teammate Mckenzie Weinhold (Fr., Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/U. of Nevada-Reno), who carded an 88. Third place went to Lettajoe Galllup (Fr., Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS) of Willamette with a 93.

Morgan McComish was the top finisher for the Warriors. She took fourth place with a score of 96. Katie Baker of Corban was fifth with a 99.

Mele Ana Kastner (Fr., Vancouver, WA/Columbia River HS) rounded out WU's scoring with a 100.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11 at the Willamette Invitational. The first day will be played at Creekside Golf Club with the second day held at Illahe Hills Country Club. Both courses are in Salem, Ore.
