Kaur Sra and Levy are Tied for Sixth after 18 Holes at Boxer Classic

Bearcats are Third in the Team Standings

BANKS, ORE. -- Willamette University golfers Taneesh Kaur Sra (Fr.) and Elise Levy (Fr.) each shot an 82 to tie for sixth place after the first round of the Boxer Classic in women's golf, hosted by Pacific University at Quail Valley Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Kelsey Morrison of George Fox University finished the round with a 2-under-par 70 to build a 6-stroke lead. Taylor Head from Whitman College was in second place at 76, while Whitney Jammerman and Abby Mann, both from GFU, were tied for third at 77.

Catelyn Webber from Whitman was fifth with a 79, three strokes in front of Kaur Sra and Levy.

With Morrison leading the tournament and Jammerman and Mann tied for third, George Fox University was able to create a strong lead. The Bruins earned a score of 307, giving GFU a 16-stroke cushion in the lead. Whitman College was second at 323, Willamette was third at 336 and Pacific University was fourth at 380.

Morrison mastered the course on Saturday, as she easily led the field while helping GFU hold first place.

Kaur Sra and Levy were WU's top golfers during the opening round. Also competing for the Bearcats were Nicole Smith (So., Portland, OR/Westview), Mckenzie Weinhold (So., Placerville, CA/El Dorado HS/U. of Nevada-Los Vegas) and Lettajoe Gallup (So., Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS).

Smith tied for 11th with an 84, while Weinhold was in 16th place after recording an 88. Gallup was 17th with a 90.

The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes at Quail Valley on Sunday.
