Sra Ties for First, Bearcats are Second, at Willamette Cup in Women's Golf

BANKS, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's golf team tied for second place at the Willamette Cup on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Quail Valley Golf Course. Linfield College won the team title with a score of 373, followed by Willamette at 388 and Pacific University at 451.

Taneesh Sra (Jr., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) from Willamette and Madeline Rice from Linfield shared first place, as each golfer carded an 82 to win by seven strokes. Maddi Barnett (Fr., Boise, Idaho/Timberline HS) of Willamette was third at 89.

Willamette golfer LettaJoe Gallup (Jr., Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS) and Madeleine Ottosson of Pacific tied for fourth place at 90.

Sra earned at least part of the Willamette Cup individual title for the second year in a row. She attained sole possession of first place during last year's tournament, when she also shot an 82.

The Bearcats will be back in action on March 14-15 at the Pioneer Invitational, set for Heron Lakes Golf Club in Portland, Ore. The women's tournament will be held on the Greenback Course.
