SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University golfer Taneesh Sra (Jr., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Willamette Spring Thaw on April 18-19. Sra took first place in the individual standing during the tournament, which was held at Broken Top Club in Bend, Oregon.

Sra shot 165 for 36 holes to win by one stroke over teammate LettaJoe Gallup (Jr., Alameda, CA/Holy Names HS), who shot 166. Sra carded an 85 in the first round and was in third place heading into the second day. She shot an 80 in the second round to grab the tournament title.

The Willamette Spring Thaw was a dual meet between Willamette and Linfield College. The Bearcats shot 738 and finished in second place, while Linfield won the team championship with a score of 733. Willamette held a five-stroke lead on the first day, but Linfield won the second round by 10 strokes.

Up next for the Bearcats is the 2015 NWC Tournament on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 at Crosswater Golf Course in Sun River, Oregon. The 36-hole tournament counts for one-half of the overall NWC team championship. The NWC Fall Classic and the NWC Spring Classic -- which were played earlier in the 2014-15 season -- each count for one-fourth of the team title.

Sra tied for fourth at the NWC Tournament in 2013 and tied for 11th at the NWC Tournament last spring. She was named Second Team All-NWC both seasons.

Taneesh Sra won medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 165 at the Willamette Spring Thaw.
