Sra and Barnett are Tied for 14th after 18 Holes at PLU Invitational

SPANAWAY, Wash. -- Willamette University golfers Taneesh Sra (Sr., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) and Maddi Barnett (So., Boise, Idaho/Timberline HS) were tied for 14th place after 18 holes at the PLU Invitational at Lake Spanaway Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 12. Sra and Barnett each shot an 83 for the Bearcats.

Alyssa Maine of Whitman College led the field with a score of 1-over-par 73. Abbi Rautenberg and Mady Rhodenbaugh, both from Lewis & Clark College, were tied for second place at 76. Chelsea Bayley and Michal Schuster, both athletes at Whitworth University, each shot 77 to tie for fourth after one day.

Lewis & Clark topped the team standings with a score of 317. The Pioneers held a one-stroke lead over Whitman, which ended the round in second place at 318. Whitworth was third at 321 and host Pacific Lutheran University was fourth at 331. Linfield College owned fifth place at 361, with Pacific University in sixth at 385 and University of Puget Sound in seventh at 399.

In addition to Sra and Barnett, Aubryn Walters (Fr., Lafayette, OR/McMinnville HS) competed for the Bearcats and shot a 105. Willamette did not field a complete team and does not have a team score.

The final round of the PLU Invitational will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13. Action will get underway at 8 a.m. (PDT). Walters is set to tee off at 8:24 a.m., with Barnett scheduled to begin the round at 9:20 a.m. and Sra slated for a 9:28 tee time.
