Sra Cards a 76 in Second Round to Finish Tied for 10th at NWC Fall Classic

SUNRIVER, Ore. -- Taneesh Sra (Sr., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) of Willamette University shot a 76 in the second round of the 2015 Northwest Conference Fall Classic in women's golf to earn a tie for 10th place in the final standings, as the tournament concluded on Sunday, Oct. 11. All 36 holes were played on The Woodlands Course at Sunriver Resort.

Sra registered an overall score of 164. She improved by 12 strokes on the second day after carding an 88 in the first round on Saturday. Her 76 tied Kristin Elich of George Fox University for the second-best score over the final 18 holes. The low round on Sunday was earned by Phoebe Nguyen of Whitman College with a 75.

Syndey Maluenda from GFU, who had the best round of the tournament with a 73 on Saturday, added a 77 in the second round to take first place with a score of 150. Elich tied for second place at 152 (76-76), along with Chelsea Bayley of Whitworth University (75-77). Nguyen placed fourth at 154 (79-75) and Michal Schuster of Whitworth was fifth at 155 (75-80).

Sra tied for 10th with three other golfers. Desirae Haselwood from Pacific Lutheran University shot 83-81, Annie McCutchan from Lewis & Clark carded 83-81, and Mady Rhodenbaugh, also from L&C, shot 85-79.

Maddi Barnett (So., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) of Willamette shot 89-87--176 to tie for 20th place. Aubryn Walters (Fr., Lafayette, OR/McMinnville HS) of the Bearcats shot 111 in the second round to finish at 235. A total of 43 golfers competed in the tournament.

George Fox won the team title with a score of 623 (309-314), as the Bruins earned the low team score both days. Whitworth took second place at 648 (325-323) and Whitman was third at 657 (335-322).

Lewis & Clark claimed fourth place at 662 (343-319), while Pacific Lutheran was fifth at 696 (358-338). Linfield College followed in sixth at 729 (378-351), with Pacific University in seventh at 815 (409-406) and University of Puget Sound in eighth at 857 (425-432). Willamette did not field a complete team.
