Barnett Holds Sixth Place after Opening Day of Willamette Spring Thaw

BEND, Ore. -- Willamette University women's golfer Maddi Barnett (So., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) was tied for sixth place with a score of 79 after 18 holes at the Willamette Spring Thaw on Saturday, April 16 at the Lost Tracks Golf Club. The tournament will conclude with the second round on Sunday, April 17.

Golfers from Lewis & Clark College filled up the top three spots of the leaderboard after the opening round. Annie McCutchan shot a 75 for the lead, while Claire Burke and Mady Rhodenbaugh both notched a score of 76 to tie for second place entering the second round.

Michal Schuster from Whitworth University was fourth at 77. Anna Jessen of Pacific Lutheran University followed in fifth place at 78.

WU golfer Taneesh Sra (Sr., Fremont, CA/Mission San Jose HS) ended the first round in a three-way tie for 18th place with a score of 88, while Aubryn Walters (Fr., Lafayette, OR/McMinnville HS) of Willamette finished the round at 118.

Lewis & Clark is ranked first in the team standings through 18 holes (308), while Pacific Lutheran University is in second place with a score of 324. Whitworth University (335), Linfield College (368) and Pacific University (377) round out the team scores. Willamette did not field a complete team.
