Barnett and Towner Tie for 16th Place at Oregon Tech Invitational

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Willamette golfers Maddi Barnett (Jr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) and Lexi Towner (Fr., Chico, CA/Chico HS) both tied for 16th place with scores of 178 in the final standings of the Oregon Tech Invitational, which concluded with the final 18 holes at the Running Y Ranch on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The Bearcats did not enter a complete team.

Towner shot 88-90 and Barnett shot 90-88. They each finished just three strokes out of 12th place.

The top three places went to athletes from Oregon Institute of Technology. Kylie Collom took first place for the Owls with a score of 153 (76-77). Stephanie Koza was second at 157 (76-81) and Janelle Ferlan placed third at 159 (78-81).

Natalie Mullins from College of Idaho and Courtney Tabion from Oregon Tech tied for fourth place. Mullins shot an 81 in the first round and and 80 in the second round, while Tabion carded scores of 80 and 81.

Oregon Tech claimed eight of the top nine women's scores. The Owls won the team title with a score of 626 (306-320). College of Idaho was second at 681 (343-338) and Simpson University (Calif.) was third at 737 (359-378). Sierra Nevada College (Nev.) was fourth at 830 (432-398). Walla Walla University (Wash.) placed fifth at 979 (484-495).

Willamette will return to action on Sept. 24-25 at the Pacific Invitational. The tournament will be held at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Oregon.
