Barnett Shoots 85 on Second Day of Pacific Invitational for 15th Place

BANKS, Ore. -- Maddi Barnett (Jr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) of Willamette University improved by three strokes in the second round with a score of 85 to finish in 15th place at the Pacific Invitational in women's golf, as action concluded at Quail Valley Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 25. Barnett concluded the 36-hole tournament with a score of 173. She shot an 88 in Saturday's first round.

Also for Willamette, Lexi Towner (Fr., Chico, CA/Chico HS) placed 18th with an overall score of 178 (87-91). Willamette did not field a complete team.

Lewis & Clark College won the team title with a score of 630 (317-313). The Pioneers were victorious by nine strokes over Pacific Lutheran University, which took second place at 639 (319-320). Whitworth University was third at 701 (362-339) and Pacific University was fourth at 741 (377-364). Linfield College placed fifth with a score of 748 (367-381).

Anna McCutchan from L&C claimed the individual title with a score of 154 (77-77). She won by one stroke over Desirae Haselwood from Pacific Lutheran. Haselwood carded scores of 76 and 79 for a total of 155. Her 76 was the low round of the weekend.

Jeankie-Jhen Aczoin of PLU took third place with a score of 156 (77-79). Lewis & Clark's Claire Burke was fourth at 157 (79-78), and Mady Rhodenbaugh of L&C was fifth after shooting 158 (79-79).

Madison LaVergne took sixth place for the Lutes of PLU with a score of 162 (84-78), while Briana Finau from Pacific was seventh at 163 (78-85).  Jane Almeida and Tori Eichten, both from L&C tied for eighth place at 164. Almeida shot 82-82, while Eichten carded 83-81.

Whitworth golfers Maggie Peters and Madison Pillo each shot 165 to tie for 10th place. Peters earned scores of 84 and 81. Pillo shot 85 and 80.

The next tournament for the Bearcats will be the Culturame Classic at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Oregon, on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1. The tournament will be hosted by George Fox University.
