SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University athletes Maddi Barnett (Jr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) and Lexi Towner (Fr., Chico, CA/Chico HS) will be competing at the Northwest Conference tournament in women's golf at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club this weekend. The first round will be played on Saturday, April 22 and the second round will be on Sunday, April 23. Par is 72.

It will be Barnett's second trip to the NWC Tournament after participating in last year's event at the Crosswater Golf Course in Sunriver, Oregon. It will be Towner's first time to compete. Action is set to begin at 8 a.m. (PDT) each day.

All golfers in the women's event will start on the 10th team on Saturday. Barnett will begin at 9:30 a.m. Towner will tee off at 9:39 a.m. Sunday's round will begin with a shotgun start.

The NWC Tournament is worth one-half of the overall NWC team championship and is one of three tournaments used to determine the title. The other two events are the NWC Fall Classic and the NWC Spring Classic -- each worth one-fourth of the title.

With the other two tournaments completed, the team standings are led by George Fox University with 16 points after winning the Fall Classic and the Spring Classic. Whitman College is second with 14 points and Lewis & Clark College is third with 11 points.

The team winner of the NWC Tournament will receive 16 points, with points awarded to other teams on a 14-12-10-8, etc. basis. Willamette is not competing with a full team.
