Bearcats Complete Day One of the Culturame Classic

CANBY, Ore. -- Willamette University golfers Lexi Towner (Jr., Chico, CA/Chico HS) and Katerin Vasquez (So., Indio, CA/Coachella Valley HS) each competed in day one of the Culturame Classic on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Willamette Valley Country Club. Through the first 18 holes of the tournament, Towner registered a score of 102, while Vazquez shot 108.

George Fox University, the tournament host, held the team lead with a score of 303. Three of the top four individual scores were posted by members of the George Fox team.  Janelle Decker carded a 74 on the day, while Iris Kawanda and Alexandra McMenamin each shot a 76.

Lewis & Clark College was second in the team standings at 321, led by Maddy Rhodenbaugh's 76. The Pioneers were followed by Whitman College at 330, Corban University at 347, and the University of California Santa Cruz at 357. Willamette and Linfield College did not enter complete teams.

The Culturame Classic will conclude with the second round on Sunday, Oct. 7.
