Towner Holds 10th Place after First Round of Pacific Spring Invitational

BANKS, Ore. -- Lexi Towner (Jr., Chico, CA/Chico HS) of Willamette University was in 10th place after the first round of the Pacific Spring Invitational in women's golf on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Quail Valley Golf Course. Nicole Gargarella from University of Victoria (B.C., Canada) topped the leaderboard with a 79. The top five positions in the individual standings were held by golfers from Victoria. The tournament will conclude with the second round on Sunday, Feb. 24.

Gargarella was followed by Quinn Fitzgerald from Victoria in second place with an 80. Rhiannon Jones was third at 82, Melanie Murchison was fourth at 83, and Sukriti Harjal was fifth at 85. Delainey Patterson form Corban University was sixth with an 86, while Janie Kiyokawa of Pacific was seventh at 88. Eighth place was shared by Tori Eichten from Lewis & Clark College and Casey Jansen from Corban, each with an 89. Towenr followed in 10th with a score of 90. A total of 25 golfers completed the first round.

Also golfing for the Bearcats were Kristen Barclay (Jr./So., Kenmore, WA/Cedar Park Christian School) at 111 and Katerin Vasquez (So., Indio, CA/Coachella Valley HS) at 121.

The team standings were led by Victoria with a score of 324. Corban held second place at 360, with Lewis & Clark in third at 381 and Pacific in fourth at 384. Willamette and Linfield College did not field complete teams.
