Bearcats Complete Bulldog Classic in Women's Golf at The S Club

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- Willamette women's golfers played the final 18 holes of the Bulldog Classic in women's golf on Sunday, Sept. 22 as the 36-hole event concluded at The S Club. Willamette's top finisher was Lexi Towner (Sr., Chico, CA/Chico HS), who placed 32nd overall at 171. Towner shot an 82 in the first round on Saturday and added an 89 on Sunday.

Also competing for the Bearcats was Meghan Hook (Fr., C, Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead HS). Hook shot 223 overall with a 110 in the first round and a 113 in the second round.

The individual winner of the tournament was Taylor Beckwith of Whittier College (Calif.). Beckwith carded a 70 and a 72 to win by three strokes at 142. Andi Chaloult from Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) and Hannah Jugar from the University of Redlands tied for second place at 145. Chaloult shot 72-73, while Jugar shot 71-74.

Three golfers tied for fourth place at 146. They were Emily Attiyeh (75-71) and Grace Lu (74-72) from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) and Annie Hay from Redlands (74-72).

At the top of the team standings was Redlands at 11-over-par 587. The Bulldogs carded a 298 in the first rouind and a 289 in the second round. Claremont-Mudd-Sripps followed in second place at 599 (310-289). Pomona-Pitzer finished third at 604 (304-300). California Lutheran University was fourth at 605 (311-294).

University of California, Santa Cruz was fifth in the tournament with an overall score of 631 (314-317). Whittier College was sixth at 643 (312-331). Willamette did not record a team score.

The Bearcats will return to action at the Culturame Classic, hosted by George Fox University at the Willamette Valley Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, October 6.
