Ruiz is Named to Northwest Conference Women's Golf All-Sportsmanship Team

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University's Analyssa Ruiz (Sr./So., Keizer, OR/Blanchet Catholic School) has been selected for the 2020-21 Northwest Conference All-Sportsmanship Team in women's golf. Ruiz was nominated by Willamette Head Women's Golf Coach Patrick Daugherty.

The Bearcats recently concluded the 2020-21 season at the NWC Tournament in Spokane, Washington. Ruiz earned the low 36-hole score for the Bearcats at 216 after shooting 110 in the first round and 106 in the second round.

NWC All-Sportsmanship Team

Analyssa Ruiz (Sr./So., Keizer, OR/Blanchet Catholic School) Analyssa Ruiz (Sr./So.) was selected as Willamette's student-athlete on the NWC All-Sportsmanship Team in women's golf for the first time. This spring, she competed in all four tournaments. She lowered her unadjusted stroke average by more than 10 strokes from 117.25 in 2019-20 to 106.50 in 2020-21. She recorded a career low round of 96 during the second round of the NWC Spring Classic.

"I nominated Analyssa because of her pure enthusiasm and joy of the game," Daugherty said. "She is new to golf and has been playing for just over a year now. Its been just amazing watching her get better each tournament. Sure there are ups and downs, but she handles them like a seasoned player. Other coaches, not just me, have recognized her great attitude and her connection with other players. She represents Willamette women's golf and the University with outstanding sportsmanship."
