Srivastav Cards a 93 for the Bearcats on Second Day of Texas Cup

PLANO, Texas -- Anushka Srivastav (Fy., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) of Willamette University shot a 93 to lead the Bearcats in the second round of the Texas Cup in women's golf on Sunday, March 20 at The Courses at Watters Creek. Srivastav finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 193. She shot 100 in the first round on Saturday.

Also competing for the Bearcats were Meghan Hook (Sr., Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead HS), Alexis Schwartz (Grad., Ontario, OR/Ontario HS), and Kiki Fierstos (Sr., Redmond, OR/Redmond HS). Hook improved by five strokes in the second round from 110 to 105, as she recorded an overall score of 215. Schwartz shot 99 and 119 for a score of 218. Fierstos carded a 139 in the first round, but lowered her score by 27 strokes in the second round to a 112, as she registered a total of 251.

Adrienne Rohwedder from Carthage College (Wis.) won medalist honors after shooting a 73 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 149. Rohwedder was tied for fifth place after the first round with a 76.

Karen Alvarez from the University of Texas-Dallas and Kate Munro from Carthage tied for second place at 150. Alvarez earned back-to-back rounds of 75. Munro, who held first place at 72 entering Sunday's round, shot a 78 over the final 18 holes. Madi McCoy of Carthage at 78-73 and Jacque O'Neill from Illinois Wesleyan University at 77-74 tied for fourth place at 151. Sixth place was shared by Emma Finger of Concordia University (Texas) and Lucy Hansen of Trinity University (Texas), both at 152. Finger carded 76-76 while Hansen shot 74-78.

Carthage achieved the team title with a score of 603 (305-298), as the Firebirds won by 14 strokes. Trinity claimed second place at 617 (309-308) and Illinois Wesleyan was third at 618 (313-305). UT-Dallas grabbed fourth place with a score of 620 (306-314). The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor placed fifth at 623 (314-309).

Willamette will compete again at The Courses at Watters Creek on Wednesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 24 during the NWC-Texas Challenge.
