Hook Leads Bearcats in First Round of West Region Duel with UT-Dallas

PLANO, Texas -- Meghan Hook (Sr., Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead HS) led Willamette University with a score of 100 in the first round of the West Region Duel between the Bearcats and the University of Texas at Dallas on Wednesday, March 23 at The Courses at Watters Creek. The 18 holes on Wednesday were played on the Traditions Course, which also will host the final round on Thursday, March 24.

Karen Alvarez of UT-Dallas earned the low score of the first round with an 80 on the par 72 course. Maddy Vilven of UTD shot an 81 to hold second place. Sofia Trevino carded an 87 for the Comets to sit in third place. Danielle Dimafelix shot a 92 for UTD.

Hook was joined in the first round by Willamette teammates Anushka Srivastav (Fy., Pune, India/Mahindra International School), Alexis Schwartz (Grad., Ontario, OR/Ontario HS), and Kiki Fierstos. Srivastav carded a 108, while Schwartz shot 111 and Fierstos shot 113.

The second round is set to get underway on Thursday with four golfers starting at 12:10 p.m. CDT/10:10 PDT. The second group of four will tee off at 12:20 p.m. CDT/10:10 p.m. PDT.
