Srivastav and Hook Score in the 90s on Second Day of NWC Spring Classic

TACOMA, Wash. -- Anushka Srivastav (Fy., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) and Meghan Hook (Sr., Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead HS) each scored in the 90s for Willamette University during the second round of the 2022 Northwest Conference Spring Classic at the Oakbrook Golf Course on Sunday, April 10. Srivastav carded a 95 while Hook shot a 98.

George Fox University won the team title with a score of 608 as the Bruins shot 312 in the first round and 296 in the second round.  GFU took first place by 57 strokes. Whitworth University was second at 665 (339-326) and Pacific Lutheran University was third at 695 (346-349). Linfield University followed in fourth place at 737 (369-368), while Lewis & Clark College was fifth at 770 (389-381), and Whitman College was sixth at 777 (387-390). The University of Puget Sound placed seventh at 809 (409-400), Pacific University was eighth at 839 (421-418), and Willamette finished ninth at 860 (438-422).

Srivastav registered Willamette's low overall score at 196 (101-95). Hook completed the 36 holes at 211 (113-98). Also for the Bearcats, Alexis Schwartz (Grad., Ontario, OR/Ontario HS) shot 225 (112-113) and Kiki Fierstos (Sr., Redmond, OR/Redmond HS) shot 228 (112-116).

Geoge Fox claimed five of the top six spots on the individual leaderboard. Makensie Toole of GFU took first place at 147 with rounds of 74 and 74. Alison Takamiya placed second for the Bruins at 148 (76-72). Her 72 on Sunday was the low round of the tournament. Liana Brown from George Fox was third at 156 (82-74) and Kaitlyn Tonai from GFU was fourth at 157 (81-76). Brianna NcNelly of Whitworth placed fifth at 160 (81-79) and GFU's Avery Kageyama was sixth at 163 (86-77).

Two golfers tied for seventh place at 166 and two tied for ninth at 167. The tie for seventh featured Julia Diaz of Whitworth (83-83) and Lauryn Tsukimura of Pacific Lutheran (82-84). Tied for ninth were Emily Fisher from PLU (84-83) and Stacia Sarty of Whitworth (85-82). A total of 41 golfers competed in the women's event.

The NWC Spring Classic is one of three tournaments used to determine the overall NWC champion. The Spring Classic is worth one-fourth of the overall title, the NWC Fall Classic also is worth one-fourth, and the NWC Tournament counts for one-half. Up next is NWC Tournament on April 23-24. Willamette will host the tournament at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Oregon.
