Tolliver and Srivastav Register Career-Low Scores at NWC Spring Classic

POST FALLS, Idaho -- Mallory Tolliver (Fy., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) shot an 88 and Anushka Srivastav (So., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) earned a 90, as they recorded career-low rounds for the Willamette University women's golf team during the second round of the 2023 Northwest Conference Spring Classic on Sunday, April 2 at The Links Golf Club.

The improved weather over the final 18 holes helped Tolliver, Srivastav, and the other golfers competing at the tournament. Of 37 golfers participating in the women's event, 33 registered a lower score on Sunday compared to their score on Saturday, when the weather was a major factor.

The NWC Spring Classic is one of three tournaments used to determine the overall Northwest Conference champion each season. The NWC Spring Classic is worth one-fourth of the title and the NWC Fall Classic is worth one-fourth of the title. The NWC Tournament is worth one-half of the title.

Tolliver, who shot a 98 in the first round, improved by 10 strokes in the second round and finished at 186. Srivastav, who carded a 97 in the first round, lowered her score by seven strokes in the second round and finished at 187.

Alison Takamiya from George Fox University won the individual championship at the Spring Classic with a score of 2-under par 144 (73-71) on the par 73 women's course. Kiana Toole of George Fox was second at 150 (76-74). Liana Brown of GFU and Cindy Luo from Whitman College tied for third place at 156, as both golfers shot 83-73. Katya Kurkoski of Whitman was fifth at 157 (85-72).

In sixth place was Avery Kageyama of GFU, who shot 161 with rounds of 84 and 77. Sara Rhodes from Pacific Lutheran University followed in seventh place at 163 (85-78). Eight place was a three-way tie at 164 between Julia Diaz and Maddie Hahn of Whitworth University and Giselle Flint from George Fox. Diaz carded 85-79, while Flint shot 88-76 and Hahn shot 80-84.

George Fox earned the team title for the Spring Classic with a score of 610. The Bruins shot 316 in the first round and a tournament-low 294 in the second round. Whitworth placed second at 661 (337-324), Whitman was third at 690 (358-332), and Pacific University was fourth at 692 (357-335). Pacific Lutheran ended the 36 holes in fifth place at 694 (368-326), while the University of Puget Sound was sixth at 726 (374-352), and Linfield University was seventh at 764 (403-361). Willamette and Lewis & Clark College did not field complete teams.

Willamette is set to compete at the 2023 Northwest Conference Tournament on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23. The NWC Tournament will be held at the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) Golf Course in Woodburn, Oregon.
