Srivastav Cards an 89 during Second Round of Pacific Invitational

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Willamette University golfer Anushka Srivastav (Sr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) shot an 89 in the second round of the Pacific Invitational in women's golf at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 17. Srivastav, who improved by nine strokes after shooting a 98 in the first round, placed 25th in the final standings at 187.

Srivastav was one of three Bearcats on the Willamette women's golf team who competed at the Pacific Invitational. Roberta Moore (So., Lakewood, WA/Lakes HS/Lewis & Clark College) tied two golfers for 26th place at 188. She carded scores of 91 and 97. Mallory Tolliver (So., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) shot 197 overall with rounds of 94 and 103.

Nikki Tabios of host Pacific University won the individual championship at 152 after carding a 74 in the first round and shooting a 78 over the final 18 holes. Bead Boonta, also from Pacific, earned second place at 158 (80-77). Ellena Jeong from Whitman College placed third at 158 (81-77).

Juila Diaz of Whitworth was fourth at 163 (84-79). Brianna McNelly from Whitworth and Kaila Bonawitz from the University of Puget Sound tied for fifth at 164. McNelly shot 83-81 while Bonawitz shot 84-80. Seventh place was held by Malaina Sidhu of Whitman at 166 (78-88). Maddie Hahn from Whitworth took eighth place at 169 (85-84). Two golfers, Kira Goode of Puget Sound and Makena Tsuye of Pacific, tied for ninth place as both carded rounds of 88 and 82.

Pacific won the team title with a 36-hole score of 653. The Boxers shot 330 in the first round and 323 in the second round. Whitman finished second at 667 (338-329) and Whitworth placed third at 673 (336-337). Pacific Lutheran University was fourth at 693 (349-344), Puget Sound grabbed fifth place at 702 (356-346), and Linfield University was sixth at 778 (388-390). Willamette and Lewis & Clark College did not enter complete teams.

Willamette will return to action on Monday, Sept. 25 and Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Bulldog Fall Invitational, hosted by the University of Redlands. The tournament will be held at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, California.
