Moore Leads Willamette during Second Round of Bulldog Invitational

BEAUMONT, Calif. -- Roberta Moore (So., Lakewood, WA/Lakes HS/Lewis & Clark College) led three Willamette University women's golfers with a score of 95 during the final round of the Bulldog Fall Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. The 36-hole tournament was hosted by the University of Redlands.

Moore finished the tournament with an overall score of 195 after shooting a 100 in the first round on Monday. In the second round, she carded a birdie on the 10th hole and registered a par on six holes. Anushka Srivastav (Sr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) and Mallory Tolliver (So., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) of Willamette both shot a 97 on Tuesday. Srivastav completed the tournament with a score of 184. She earned a career-best score of 87 in the first round. Tolliver ended the event at 192 overall, including a 95 in the first round.

The individual champion was Andrea York from Redlands who won by two strokes at 3-under par 141 with scores of 69 in the first round and 72 in the second round. Iris Liu, also from Redlands was second at 1-under par 143. She carded rounds of 74 and 69. Hailey Stevenson of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) was third with a score of 1-over par 145 as she shot 74-71. Cristen Legaspi from Hope International (Calif.) placed fourth at 147 (73-74).

Four golfers tied for fifth place with overall scores of 148. They were Kaila Higgins (77-71) of Chapman University, Maisy Alsen (75-73) of Embry-Riddle, Jordyn Janert (72-76) from the University of La Verne (Calif.), and Anna Poulin (71-77) of California Lutheran University.

Charlotte Griffen from Embry-Riddle held ninth place at 151 (73-78). Ottavia Lombardo from Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) and Kaetlin Halseth from Embry-Riddle tied for 10th place at 152. They both carded rounds of 77 and 75.

Redlands won the team title with a score of 589. The Bulldogs shot 295 in the first round and a tournament-low score of 294 in the second round. Embry-Riddle placed second at 594 (298-296) and Hope International was third at 625 (312-313). Chapman and California Lutheran each shot 627 to tie for fourth place. Chapman carded 18-hole totals of 323 and 304, while CLU shot 317 and 310. La Verne finished in sixth place at 637 (317-320), Menlo College (Calif.) was seventh at 639 (320-319), the University of California, Santa Cruz was eighth at 641 (325-316), and Schreiner University (Texas) was ninth with a score of 685 (346-339). Willamette and Lewis & Clark College did not enter a complete team.

Willamette will return to action on Sat., Oct. 14 with the first day of the three-day Northwest Conference Fall Classic. The tournament will be hosted by Linfield University at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville, Oregon.
