Srivastav Cards an 89 over Final 18 Holes at NWC Fall Classic

SALEM, Ore. -- Anushka Srivastav (Sr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) shot an 89 for Willamette University during the second round of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic in women's golf on Sunday, Oct. 15 at Michelbook Country Club. Srivastav recorded a 36-hole score of 182. She carded a 93 in the first round on Saturday.

Also competing for Willamette on Sunday was Mallory Tolliver (So., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) who shot 107 in the second round. She earned a score of 101 in the first round and ended the event at 208 overall. Haley Bohn (Fy., Arlington, TX/The Oakridge School), who shot an 83 in the first round, had to withdraw from the tournament in the second round.

Liana Brown of George Fox University led a 1-2-3 finish for the Bruins. Browns shot 145 with a 2-under par 70 on Saturday and carded a 75 on Sunday. Makensie Toole of GFU was second at 146 (76-70) and teammate Alison Takamiya was third at 147 (73-74). Cindy Luo of Whitman College was fourth at 148 with two rounds of 74. Stella Fergin from Whitworth University placed fifth with a score of 151 (76-75).

Two golfers, Ainsley Carter from GFU and Abby Matelski from Pacific Lutheran University, tied for sixth place at 153, with Carter shooting 75-78 and Matelski recording 81-72. Maddie Hahn from Whitworth was eight at 144 (81-73), Bead Boonta from Pacific University was ninth at 155 (74-81), and Julia Diaz of Whitworth placed 10th at 157 (79-78).

George Fox won the team title at 591, as the Bruins shot 294 in the first round and 297 in the second round. Whitworth followed in second place at 619 (313-306), and Whitman was third at 633 (315-318). Pacific earned fourth place at 661 (330-331), Pacific Lutheran University was fifth at 665 (328-337), the University of Puget Sound was sixth at 733 (366-367), and Linfield University was seventh at 736 (364-372). Willamette and Lewis & Clark College did not field complete teams.

Each golf season, the NWC women's championship includes three tournaments -- the NWC Fall Classic, the NWC Spring Classic, and the NWC Tournament. The Fall Classic and the Spring Classic are each worth one-fourth of the title, while the NWC Tournament is worth one-half of the title. Willamette has completed its fall season. The NWC Spring Classic and the NWC Tournament will be held during the spring semester.
