SALEM, Ore. -- Emma Canchola (Fr., DEF, Oregon City OR/Oregon City HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending on March 31.

Canchola had a very strong week on defense in games against Southwestern University (Texas), University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Pacific University and Linfield College. She earned a total of 25 ground balls, caused 15 turnovers and won 11 draw controls.

Her seven draw controls against Pacific played a key role in Willamette's first-ever NWC win, as the Bearcats defeated the Boxers, 17-11. Against the Boxers, she also intercepted a pass in the midfield and went forward to score her first goal of the season.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, April 16 at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. Game time is set for 1 p.m. (PDT).
