SALEM, Ore. -- Analise Wilson (So., MID, Temecula, CA/Chaparral HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts against Augsburg University (Minn.) on March 16 and Hamline University (Minn.) on March 18. Both games were played at Sparks Field, with the Bearcats shutting out Augsburg 21-0 and defeating Hamline 16-8.

Wilson helped lead the Bearcats on defense during the week and also scored two goals in each game. For the week, she registered eight ground balls and seven draw controls, while causing five turnovers. In the shutout win over Augsburg, Wilson recorded five draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. Against Hamline, she achieved six ground balls, two draw controls, and four caused turnovers.

"Analise thrives the most when her team needs her," Willamette Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Sarah Lautenbach said. "She's dialed in and focused on reading the opposition's attack. She's great at anticipating passes and tracking ground balls. In addition to being a strong defensive threat, she hustles all over the field, contributing to the transition and making sniper-like cuts on the attack. She has been making an impact everywhere her team needs her. In every sense of the word, she is a complete player. I'm excited that she is getting recognition."

This season, Wilson leads Willamette with 22 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers in seven games. She has earned 15 draw controls. On offense, she has scored eight goals and five assists.

Willamette is 6-1 on the season. The Bearcats will play at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday, March 23. Game time is set for 5 p.m. (PDT).
