NEWBERG, Ore. -- Willamette University blasted 30 shots, but Kayla Caldeira of George Fox University scored the game's only goal with two seconds left in the second overtime, as the Bruins edged the Bearcats, 1-0, in Northwest Conference action on Sunday, Oct. 9. George Fox, which managed just 13 shots and had only three shots on goal, improved to 3-6-3 overall, 3-3-2 in the NWC. Willamette moved to 5-6-1 on the season, 2-5-1 in the NWC.

The Bearcats took 12 shots in the first half and earned 11 shots in the second half. Willamette added one shot in the first overtime, and then finished with a flurry of six shots in the second overtime. The Bearcats placed eight shots on goal during the game.

Morgan Bars recorded eight saves in goal for GFU to earn the shutout win. WU goalkeeper Emily Sewall (Sr., GK, Petaluma, CA/Casa Grande HS) was credited with two saves.

After making three saves in each half of regulation, Bars provided GFU with two saves in the second overtime. She stopped a shot by Liz Stewart (So., D/F, Sisters, OR/Sisters HS/Texas Christian University) at 105:36, before adding her final save on a shot by Shanna Keil (Fr., M, Danville, CA/San Ramon Valley HS) at 109:17. Keil's shot was taken with 43 seconds left in the game.

Moments later, Caldeira scored at the other end of the field at 109:58. The ball rebounded off Sewall, and Caldeira was there to shoot into the net.

Keil of Willamette led all attacking players with seven total shots, including a game-high three shots on goal. Kinsey Keene (Sr., F, Eagle, ID/Eagle HS) registered six shots for the Bearcats, while Stewart contributed four shots. Savannah Moisan topped George Fox with four shots.

Willamette finished the game with a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. All of the corner kicks for both teams were earned during the 90 minutes of regulation play. George Fox was called for 13 fouls, and the Beacats were charged with six fouls.

Up next for Willamette is a home game against archrival Linfield College on Saturday, Oct. 15. Game time at Sparks Field is set for 12 p.m. (PDT).
