Barclay Named NWC Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Goalkeeper Kristen Barclay (So., GK, Kenmore, WA/Cedar Park Christian School) of Willamette University has been selected Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in games against Whitworth University on Oct. 14 and Whitman College on Oct. 15. The Bearcats won both games to improve to 9-3-2 overall, 6-3-1 in the NWC.

Barclay registered a total of six saves on her way to a 2-0 record with a pair of shutout victories against the Pirates and the Blues. She recorded four saves in a 2-0 win over Whitworth and made two saves in Willamette's 3-0 win over Whitman.

For the season, Barclay has played every minute in four shutouts and has three shared shutouts with other Willamette goalies. She holds a 0.66 goals against average to rank third in the NWC.

Willamette will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21 when the Bearcats host archrival Linfield College. Game time at Sparks Field in set for 12 p.m. (PDT).
