Barclay's Shutouts Lead to NWC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week Honor

SALEM, Ore. -- Kristen Barclay (Jr., GK, Kenmore, WA/Cedar Park Christian School) of Willmette University has been named NWC Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after earning two shutout wins in games at Sparks Field on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30. On Saturday, the Bearcats defeated Whitworth University, 2-0. On Sunday, Willamette added a 2-0 win over Whitman College.

The Bearcats are now 9-0-1 on the season, including 5-0-1 (1st place) in the NWC standings. Willamette is ranked #4 in the West Region of NCAA Division III by the United Soccer Coaches.

Barclay played all 180 minutes over the weekend to help the Bearcats registers the two shutouts. She earned two saves in the win over Whitworth and added three saves in the win over Whitman.

For the season, Barclay has earned five solo shutouts and three shared shutouts. She has a 9-0-1 record and a 0.34 goals against average.

Willamette will play at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, on Saturday, Oct. 6. Game time is set for 12 p.m. The Bearcats will take on Pacific University at Sparks Field in Salem, Oregon, on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 12 p.m.
