Keil is Selected for Second Team All-West Region Honors by United Soccer Coaches

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University women's soccer forward Shanna Keil (Jr., Danville, CA/San Ramon Valley HS) as been chosen Second Team All-West Region for the 2018 NCAA Division III season as selected by the United Soccer Coaches. Keil received First Team All-Northwest Conference recognition earlier this fall.

Keil is the fifth Willamette women's soccer player to receive All-West Region recognition since 2008. Kelsey Rogel '09 was named Second Team All-West Region in 2008, and Lauren Miller '09 earned Third Team All-West Region honors in 2008. Stephanie Skelly '12 was chosen Second Team All-West Region in 2011. Emmy Manset '18 was selected Second Team All-West Region as a senior last year in 2017.

"First congratulations to Shanna on her All-West Region selection," Willamette Head Coach Hillary Arthur said. "To be recognized on the Regional level is a tremendous honor, and Shanna is well deserving of this award. Shanna's work ethic and mental edge haven proven to be vital pieces of not only her success on the field, but our team success overall. Her ability to score goals and assist teammates can be seen in the stats, but she's not just a great attacker. She's a great teammate helping whenever and wherever she's needed on and off the field."

This year, 33 players received All-West Region recognition. The selections were evenly distributed with 11 each on the First Team, Second Team and Third Team.

Willamette achieved a 12-4-4 overall record this season with an 8-4-4 record (4th place) in the NWC. The Bearcats registered 10 shutouts, earned a 0.80 team goals against average and outscored their opponents 33-17. Keil scored seven goals to lead five players who produced at least three goals for the Bearcats.

Second Team All-West Region

Shanna Keil (Jr., F, Danville, CA/San Ramon Valley HS) Shanna Keil (Jr., F) was named to the All-West Region Women's Soccer Team for the first time. In addition to being chosen First Team All-NWC this season, she was a Second Team All-NWC choice in 2017.

Keil contributed seven goals and six assists this year to top Willamette with 20 total points. She led the team in assists and was second in goals score. She placed third in the NWC in total points. She led Willamette's offense with 70 total shots and 41 shots on goal. Keil scored two goals in a 4-0 win over Fontbonne University (Mo.) in the season opener on Aug. 31 and provided two goals in a 2-2 tie with Linfield College on Sept. 12. She took 31 of Willamette's 86 corner kicks during the year.

In 2017, Keil earned six goals and a team-high five assists for 17 total points. She created 37 total shots and sent 20 shots on goal. She scored four game-winning goals.

Keil accumulated 16 goals, 12 assists and 44 total points in three years at Willamette. She has played in 59 games with 45 starts. She has achieved 139 total shots, including 75 shots on goal. She has supplied the Bearcats five career game-winning goals.
