Wilson Scores Twice to Lead Bearcats in 3-1 Victory at Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Sydney Wilson (Jr., M, Olympia, WA/Capital HS) scored two goals for Willamette University at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, April 3, as the Bearcats defeated the Pioneers, 3-1, in a Northwest Conference game. The Bearcats improved to 3-4-0 on the season, 3-4-0 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark concluded its schedule at 2-5-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the NWC.

Jackie Gilroy (So., F, Mercer Island, WA/Mercer Island HS) of Willamette registered the game's first goal at 14:55. She was assisted by Lacey Jones (Sr., F, Portland, OR/David Douglas HS) and Emma Blackburn (Jr., F, Los Altos, CA/Saint Francis HS). The Bearcats increased their lead to 2-0 at 26:11 when Wilson earned her first goal of the game. Gilroy provided an assist on the play.

Lewis & Clark pulled within 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Brecklyn Beighle at 37:39. The Bearcats remained in front by a single goal at halftime.

Wilson scored an insurance goal just over midway through the second half at 68:30. Joleigh Miller (So., D, Salem, OR/South Salem HS) provided the pass that led to the goal and was credited with an assist.

The Bearcats outshot the Pioneers, 13-10, during the match with each team taking seven shots goal. Both teams also finished with six corner kicks. WU goalkeeper Grasiela Quevedo-Ramos (Sr., GK, Salem, OR/West Salem HS) made six saves and improved to 3-3 with the win. Sophia Young of L&C contributed four saves for the Pioneers.

Bridget Bodor (So., F, Manitou Springs, CO/Manitou Springs HS) led Willamette with three shots, including two shots on goal. Wilson and Blackburn each placed their two shots on target. Jones and Gilroy also took two shots for the Bearcats. Beighle topped the Pioneers with three shots -- all on goal. Celeste Schreifels and Becca McCullough each recorded two shots.

Willamette will close the season on Thursday, April 8 with a game at George Fox University. Kickoff in Newberg, Oregon, is set for 4:30 p.m. (PDT).
