SALEM, Ore. – The Willamette University women's soccer team turned in a strong performance on Saturday, Nov. 6, hosting Lewis & Clark College in a Northwest Conference match at Sparks Field. The Bearcats kept the game level until the 73rd minute, but a trio of late goals led to a 3-0 win for the visiting Pioneers.

Willamette moved to 5-14-0 overall and 4-11-0 in the Northwest Conference. Lewis & Clark improved to 10-6-3 and 8-5-2 in the NWC.

L&C put three shots on target in the first half, but senior goalkeeper Jordan Roue (San Jose, CA/Prospect HS) was there to stop all three attempts. The Pioneers also had a strong chance in the 11th minute, but the Bearcat defense made a strong play to clear the ball.

Lewis & Clarks' Brecklyn Beighle tallied a goal and an assist in a span of three minutes to put the Pioneers in front 2-0, with 13 minutes remaining in the match. She assisted Madi Pastores in the 74th minute on a corner before scoring off a pass from Chloe Helenihi in the 77th, finding the corner of the net from outside the penalty area.

Alexa Myers added a goal with just over eight minutes to play for the final goal of the afternoon. She hit a well-placed shot, just under the crossbar, off a free kick from the edge of the midfield circle.

The Pioneers held a 16-9 shot advantage and forced seven corners while allowing just one on defense.

Roue finished the game with six saves while Sophia Young and Abby Prager combined for three in the nets for Lewis & Clark.

The Bearcats are in action again tomorrow, hosting George Fox University on Sparks Field. They will honor the seniors with the match kicking off at 11 a.m. (PDT)
