SALEM, ORE. -- Lewis & Clark College won a close match at #3 doubles and claimed victories in three sets at #4 and #5 singles, as the Pioneers gained an edge to defeat Willamette University, 6-3, on Sunday, March 29 at the Courthouse Tennis Club. L&C upped its record to 11-8 overall, 8-6 in the NWC, while the Bearcats fell to 5-10 overall, 4-8 in the conference.
In addition to winning a pair of three-set matches, the Pioneers also gained a victory in a tightly contested match at #1 singles. Amalia Nilsson of L&C outlasted Shannon Palmer of Willamette, 6-4, 7-5, to win the top singles position.
