SALEM, ORE. -- Junior women's tennis player Natalia Agarycheva (Vancouver, WA/Prairie HS/U. of Northern Colorado), ranked #8 in the NCAA Division III West Region in singles, will compete at the highly regarded Ojai Valley Tournament in Ojai, Calif., this week. Agarycheva is 18-2 in singles matches this season.
She will be competing in the Women's Independent Singles bracket, which includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA players. Agarycheva will open the tournament against Leslie Tong of Cal Tech at 9:30 a.m. (PDT) on Thursday, April 22.
The winner between Agarycheva and Tong will take on the winner of the first round match between #12-seeded Ashley Litchfield of Point Loma Nazarene University and Kris Subbiah of Occidental College. Action in the Women's Independent Singles bracket will continue through Sunday, April 25.
Agarycheva helped Willamette achieve a 12-9 overall dual match record this season. The Bearcats were 10-6 (4th place) in the Northwest Conference. Agarycheva was chosen NWC Player of the Year.
