McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The Willamette University and George Fox University women's tennis teams completed all four doubles matches, but were unable to start singles play, before the second day of the Four-Way Invitational was rained out on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Linfield College. The Bearcats and Bruins were scheduled to play nine singles matches, and Willamette would have completed the day with singles and doubles matches against Linfield, but the weather created an early end to the tournament.

George Fox recorded wins in all four doubles matches on Saturday. At #1 doubles, GFU's team of  Sarah Tuemmler and Taylor Barnes outscored Willamettes' duo of Mikaila Smith (Jr., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) and Hannah Andres (So., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS), 8-4. The #2 match was won by Andrea Motley and Kristen Mock for the Bruins against Mina Mizutani (Fr., Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos HS) and Katie Adams (Jr., McLean, VA/American International School) of WU, 8-0.

The Bruins won #3 doubles, with Catrina Kwong and Ellen Pearson downing Rachel Kong (So., Hayward, CA/Castro Valley HS) and Alyssa Oberg (Fr., Roseville, CA/Oakmont HS), 8-0. At #4 doubles, Iisa Teppo and Lydia Pia won for GFU, 8-5, over Willamette's team of Noemi Cruz-Cruz (Jr., Galt, CA/Liberty Ranch HS) and Allie DiPasquale (So., Seattle, WA/Seattle Academy) .

Willamette will return to action at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Walla Walla, Washington. Whitman College will be hosting the tournament.
