SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University won all three doubles matches and added victories at five of six singles positions to defeat Community Colleges of Spokane, 8-1, in a women's tennis exhibition match on Saturday, March 25 at Salem Tennis and Swim Club.

The match does not change Willamette's win-loss record since the NCAA does not count results against two-year colleges.

Mina Mizutani (Fr., Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos HS) and Rachel Kong (So., Hayward, CA/Castro Valley HS) led Willamette's doubles attack. They picked up a close win during the #1 match in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (7-4), against CC of Spokane's team of Kaitlyn Streltzoff and Miranda Jackson.

At #2 doubles, Allie DiPasquale (So., Seattle, WA/Seattle Academy) and Katie Adams (Jr., McLean, VA/American International School) of Willamette downed Anelise Goodall and Ashley Rotchford, 8-1. The #3 doubles mats was won by Hannah Andres (So., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) and Alyssa Oberg (Fr., Roseville, CA/Oakmont HS) of WU over Kasey Irving and Stephanie Barragan of Spokane, 8-3.

Andres won #1 singles by default when Streltzoff was unable to compete. Mizutani held off Irving in two close sets, 6-4, 6-4, in the #2 singles match. Miranda Jackson from CC of Spokane earned the only for the Sasquatch at #3 singles, as she defeated Kong, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

DiPasquale took #4 singles for the Bearcats by scores of 6-3 and 6-0 against Goodall. At #5 singles, Oberg downed Rotchford, 6-1, 6-4. Noemi Cruz-Cruz (Jr., Galt, CA/Liberty Ranch HS) of Willamette swept through #6 singles, 6-0, 6-0, versus Barragan.

The Bearcats will be back at Salem Tennis and Swim Club on Sunday, March 26 for an exhibition match against Bellevue College (Wash.). Match time is set for 1 p.m. (PDT).
