Wildcats, Ranked #27, Improve to 12-3 with 9-0 Victory over Bearcats

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Linfield College, ranked #27 in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), downed Willamette University, 9-0, on Sunday, April 9 at the Linfield Tennis Center. The Wildcats, who are #6 in the West Region, advanced their record to 12-3 on the season, 8-1 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 0-14 overall, 0-11 in the NWC.

The Wildcats won #1 doubles 8-3, as Marisa Doveri and Michelle Ly outscored Willamette's team of Mikaila Smith (Jr., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) and Alexis Gjurasic (So., Olympia, WA/Capital HS). At #2 doubles, Sierra Lemon and Courtney Mostul were victorious for Linfield against Mina Mizutani (Fr., Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos HS) and Rachel Kong (So., Hayward, CA/Castro Valley HS), 8-2.

In the #3 doubles match, Jesse Vezo and Kelsey Bartlett of Linfield defeated Hannah Andres (So., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) and Alyssa Oberg (Fr., Roseville, CA/Oakmont HS), 8-1.

Linfield won all six singles matches in straight sets. At #2 singles, Vezo moved past Andres, 6-3, 6-2. Bartlett prevailed at #3 singles against Gjurasic, 6-2, 6-3.

Willamette will close out the season on Saturday, April 15 against Pacific University. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m. (PDT) at the WU Tennis Courts. In the case of bad weather, the match will be moved indoors at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club.
