Consolation Semifinals at Ojai are Next for Dean after Win in Super Tie-Breaker

OJAI, Calif. --  Willamette University's Sarah Dean (So., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) rallied from one set down in a consolation singles quarterfinal match to defeat Vivian Lee from University of California, Santa Cruz in a super tie-breaker played instead of a third set on Friday, April 26 at the prestigious Ojai Tennis Tournament. Dean completed her comeback for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-2 win in the Women's Division III Invitational Singles consolation bracket.

"Today was a real test of grit and mental toughness," Willamette Head Coach Bryce Parmelly said. "It was a huge and well-deserved win for Sarah."

Dean moved into the consolation singles semifinals, set for Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m. (PDT). Dean will take on Isabelle Brown form UC Santa Cruz in one of the semifinal matches. The other semifinal match will be played by Kayla Manz of UCSC and Katie Wolber from Occidental College (Calif.), also at 11 a.m.

The winners will meet in the consolation championship match on Saturday at 2 p.m.
