SALEM, Ore. -- Sarah Dean (Jr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) was victorious at #1 singles and combined with Robin Pashek (Jr., The Dalles, OR/The Dalles-Wahtonka HS) to win #1 doubles, as Willamette University rolled past Treasure Valley Community College (Ore.), 8-1, in a women's tennis exhibition match on Sunday, March 1 at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club. Willamette prevailed in all three doubles matches and in five of the six singles matches. The match does not change Willamette's record because the NCAA does not count results against two-year colleges.

Dean's win at #1 singles was achieved by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 against Emily Jordan of TVCC. At #1 doubles, Dean and Pashek defeated Jordan and Haliegh Taylor, 8-1. Willamette's sweep in doubles also included Sylvia Marr (Jr., Grants Pass, OR/Hidden Valley HS) and Siena Ginsburg (Jr., Bend, OR/Summit HS) downing Claire Farmer and Summer Townsend at #2 doubles, 8-1, along with Alyssa Oberg (Sr., Roseville, CA/Oakmont HS) and Paisley Lieske (Fy., Seattle, WA/Vashon Island HS) outscoring Flavia Youngstrom and Elizabeth Starr, 8-4.

Treasure Valley picked up its only win at #2 singles, where Taylor moved past Pashek, 6-3, 6-2. Marr prevailed for Willamette at #3 singles, 6-1, 6-3, over Youngstrom. At #4 singles, Ginsburg did not lose a game in quickly defeating townsend, 6-0, 6-0. Oberg gained a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at #5 singles over Farmer, while Rebecca Griffith outlasted Starr at #6 singles in a super tie-breaker played instead of a third set, 2-6, 7-5, 10-1.

The Bearcats will play again on Tuesday, March 3, when they are scheduled to host Otterbein University (Ohio) at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club. Match time is set for 5 p.m. (PST).
