Pacific Defeats Willamette 9-0 in Women's Tennis

SALEM, Ore. -- Pacific University defeated Willamette University, 9-0, on Saturday, April 3 at the WU Tennis Courts. The Boxers improved to 3-3 overall, 2-2 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats dropped to 0-5 on the season, 1-4 in the NWC.

Willamette put up strong contests at #2 and #3 doubles. The Bearcats' #2 team of Alyssa Siobhan Oberg (Grad., Roseville, CA/Oakmont HS) and Paisley Lieske (So., Seattle, WA/Vashon Island HS) battled with Pacific's team of Kailei Eustis and Cara Tamaye, but Eustis and Tamaye earned an 8-4 win. At #3 doubles, Jessica Eligio and Kendall Taomoto of the Boxers downed Ruby Thompson (Fy., Bay City, OR/Tillamook HS) and Ruby Blake (Fy., La Crosse, WI/Central HS), also by an 8-4 score. In the #1 doubles match, Pacific's Sydnie Binder and Cassidy Binder defeated Sarah Dean (Sr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) and Siena Ginsburg (Sr., Bend, OR/Summit HS), 8-0.

Eligio prevailed over Oberg, 6-2, 6-2, in the #3 singles match. Also winning singles matches for the Boxers were Cassidy Binder at #1, Sydnie Binder at #2, Eustis at #4, Tamaye at #5, and Gillian Mead at #6.

Willamette will play at George Fox University in NWC action on Sunday, April 10. Match time is scheduled for 11 a.m. (PDT).
