Willamette Women's Tennis Plays U. of Oregon Club Team in Exhibition Match

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Willamette University women's tennis team lost to the University of Oregon Club team, 9-0, in an exhibition match on Saturday, Feb. 11.

At #1 doubles, Amanda Pruitt and Samantha Eichman from the U of O Club defeated Richelle Suzuki (So., Mililani, HI/Mililani HS) and Anika Groener (So., Bend, OR/Summit HS) of Willamette, 8-3. Ruby Wool and Vy Lam won #2 doubles for the U of O Club as they moved past Alexa de Crinis (Fy., Makawao, HI/Seabury Hall School) and Ruby Thompson (Jr., Bay City, OR/Tillamook HS), 8-4. In the #3 doubles match, Willamette's team of McKenna Turner (Jr., Junction City, OR/Junction City HS) and Paisley Lieske (Sr., Seattle, WA/Vashon Island HS) fell to Hannah Root and Myra Bernard, 8-3.

The U of O Club team won all six singles matches in straight sets, but Polina Privorotskiy had to hold off Thompson of the Bearcats in both sets for a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #4 singles. Root prevailed at #5 singles against Turner by a scores of 6-2 and 6-3. The #1 singles match was won Mackenzie Eichman, who downed Suzuki, 6-1, 6-2. Other winners for the U of O Club were Irin Ivanova at #2 singles, Jensen Barnes at #3 singles, and Phoebe Rausco at #6 singles.

Willamette will host Bellevue College (Wash.) in an exhibition match on Friday, Feb. 17. Match time is set for 4 p.m. (PST) at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club.
