Porter Earns Recognition on Molten Spike It Up Classic All-Tournament Team

SALEM, Ore. -- Emma Porter (Fy., S, Honolulu, HI/Mid-Pacific Institute) of Willamette University has been named to the Molten Spike It Up Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the Bearcats' four matches this past weekend in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Porter was once of just eight student-athletes chosen for the All-Tournament Team.

During Willamette's matches with University of La Verne (Calif.), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Colorado College and LeTourneau University (Texas), Porter earned 157 assists in 17 sets for an average of 9.24 assists per set. She registered a high of 38 assists versus La Verne on Saturday (Sept. 7). She also contributed 62 digs over the weekend for an average of 3.65 digs per set. She provided a high of 18 digs against LeTourneau on Sunday (Sept. 8). In addition, Porter connected for 17 kills and a .200 hitting percentage.

Joining Porter on the All-Tournament Team were Most Valuable Player Isabella Vasquez from host Colorado College, as well as Kianna Crow of LeTourneau, Lilly Edwards from MIT, Emma Hewlins from Colorado College, Andie Maloney from MIT, Madison Maynes from La Verne, and Georgia Mullins of Colorado College.

Willamette will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 18 with a home match at Cone Field House against Linfield College, as both teams begin Northwest Conference play. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. (PDT).
