Carr is Chosen as NWC Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University runner Hazel Carr (Sr., Seattle, WA/The Northwest School) has been named NWC Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Ash Creek Preserve Invitational on Friday, Sept. 7 in Monmouth, Oregon. Carr took first place in the women's 5-kilometer race during the meet, which was hosted by Western Oregon University.

Carr earned the women's individual championship with a time of 19:30.6. She won the race by 24 seconds. Carr helped Willamette finish in third place in the team standings behind Western Oregon and Corban University.

The Bearcats placed two runners in the top 10. In addition to Carr's first place finish, Maggie Chapin (Jr., Buffalo, WY/Buffalo HS) took sixth place.

Willamette will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Augsburg Invitational in Bloomington, Minnesota. Aubsburg University will be hosting the meet at the Highland Greens Golf Course.
