SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University junior forward Jordan Jenkkins (Jr., F, Placentia, CA/Valencia HS) has been chosen to the Second Team of the 2017-18 All-Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Team, as selected by the NWC head coaches. Overall, a total of 17 players received All-NWC honors.
"I'm very happy for Jordan," Willamette Head Coach Kip Ioane said. "His work ethic in the offseason paid of on the court this year."
The 2017-18 All-Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Team includes six athletes on the First Team and five athletes on the Second Team, plus six players earning Honorable Mention. Kyle Roach, a junior guard from Whitworth University, was named NWC Men's Basketball Player of the Year, while Dempsey Roggenbuck, a freshman guard from Linfield College, was chosen NWC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Year. Whitman College Head Coach Eric Bridgeland was selected NWC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.
Willamette finished the season with an 11-14 overall record, including 6-10 in the Northwest Conference. Jenkins played in all 25 games with 24 starts. The Bearcats improved by seven wins over the 2016-17 season.
Second Team All-Northwest Conference
Jordan Jenkins (Jr., F) was Willamette's top scorer with 347 points and 13.9 points per game. He also led the Bearcats and ranked third in the NWC with 8.2 rebounds per game. He was seventh in the conference in field goal shooting at 54.1%. Jenkins scored in double figures in 20 games, including the final 13 games of the season. He registered a career-high 22 points against Pacific University on Feb. 9, 2018. He grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds versus Lewis & Clark College on Jan. 27, 2018.
In three seasons at Willamette, Jenkins has scored 608 points and hauled down 331 rebounds. He owns a career scoring average of 11.1 points per game and has a 52.3% career field goal percentage. Despite scoring mostly in the paint, he has scored 22 three-pointers and has achieved 35.5% career 3-point accuracy. He also has recorded 114 assists, 42 blocked shots and 33 steals for the Bearcats.
