    SALEM, ORE. -- With a 10-7-2 record in the bag for their first winning season since 2000, several players from the Willamette University men's soccer team received some well-deserved individual recognition as seven Bearcats were awarded with All-Northwest Conference honors.

    SALEM, ORE. -- In a battle of nearby Northwest Conference rivals on Saturday, Nov 3, Willamette University scored two goals in the first half before Linfield tied the game with goals at 50:52 and 52:42. Willamette countered with two quick goals of its own at 67:27 and 68:55 to take charge of the game in a 4-3 victory over the Wildcats at Sparks Field.

Willamette defeated George Fox, 1-0.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior defender Etienne Galbreath (Portland, OR/Grant HS) scored the winning goal with 4:05 remaining, as the Bearcats defeated Pacific University, 3-2, in a Northwest Conference men's soccer game on Saturday, Sept. 29. Galbreath scored on a 3-yard header at the near post on a corner kick. The win at Sparks Field allowed Willamette to improve its record to 4-5-1 overall, 1-3-1 in the NWC. Pacific fell to 3-7-0 on the season, 1-4-0 in the NWC.
  • Pacific Lutheran Rallies Late to Slip Past Bearcats, 2-1

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University took an early lead on a goal by Tyler Yates (Fr., Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe HS) at 11:13 and held the lead for most of the game, but Derek Johnson scored two goals for Pacific Lutheran University in the final 11 minutes, as the Lutes rallied past the Bearcats, 2-1, on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Sparks Field.

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- Willamette University provided a solid defensive battle with #16-ranked Whitworth University in men's soccer on Sunday, Sept. 16, but the Pirates escaped with a 1-0 victory following a goal by Will Wren at 83:26. Whitworth remained undefeated at 5-0-1 on the season, while improving to 2-0-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette dropped to 3-3-1 overall, 0-1-1 in the NWC.

    WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Willamette University goalkeeper Brayden Calder (Fr., Philomath, OR/Philomath HS) achieved four saves to help the Bearcats tie Whitman College, 0-0 in two overtimes, on Saturday, Sept. 15. Calder's efforts preserved the tie despite Whitman gaining a 12-7 edge in total shots, including a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Vazquez Chosen NWC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior forward Adan Vazquez (Woodburn, OR/Woodburn HS) has been selected Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in helping the Bearcats win two of three games played between Sept. 3 and Sept. 9. Vazquez scored two goals and tallied two assists during the week.

Willamette evened its record at 2-2 on the season, while Northwest fell to 2-1-1.
  • Willamette Gains a Men's Soccer Win after Protest is Granted

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University has been declared the winner of the Bearcats' game at Southwestern University (Texas) on Sept. 1 after WU's protest of the game was granted. Willamette scored in the first overtime at 97:29, but the game continued and Southwestern tied the score late in the second overtime for a 2-2 tie.
  • Jacobson Scores Twice, but #4 Trinity Slips Past Bearcats in Overtime, 3-2

    SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- Willamette University freshman midfielder Austin Jacobson (Salem, OR/South Salem HS) scored twice, but #4-ranked Trinity University slipped past the Bearcats, 2-1 in overtime, in a men's soccer game on Monday, Sept. 3. The winning goal was scored by Brian Hines at 96:10.

    GEORGETOWN, TEXAS -- Erik Kaufman (Sr., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) scored two goals for Willamette University -- the 23rd and 24th of his career -- and the Bearcats tied Southwestern University (Texas) in men's soccer on Saturday, Sept. 1. Kaufman's second goal, scored 7:29 into the first overtime, gave WU a 2-1 lead. The Pirates tied the game on a goal with 1:16 left in the second overtime.
  • Mississippi College Pulls Away Late in 4-1 Win over Bearcats

    SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- Mississippi College scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to extend a 2-1 lead into a 4-1 victory over Willamette University on Friday, Aug. 31. The game, which was played at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, was the season opener for both teams.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The University of the Fraser Valley (Canada) defeated Willamette University in an exhibition game, 5-1, on Friday, Aug. 24 at Sparks Field. Fraser Valley scored the first goal before the Bearcats tied the score at 1-1. Fraser Valley tallied the final four goals of the game.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University Bearcats are predicted to finish in fifth place in the Northwest Conference this season according to the 2012 NWC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. All eight NWC head coaches voted in the poll.
