Gallaway is Chosen as NWC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University junior midfielder Pierce Gallaway (Carmel, CA/Carmel HS) has been selected Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the Bearcats' game at Linfield University on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Bearcats defeated the Wildcats, 4-0, for their third shutout victory of the season.

Gallaway scored the first goal against Linfield just 9:55 into the game. Willamette scored three times in the first 20 minutes and the Bearcats added a fourth goal in the second half. During the game, Gallaway took four shots, including two shots on goal.

For the season, Gallaway is one of four Bearcats tied for the team goal scoring lead with three goals on the season. The win over Linfield upped Willamette's record to 7-3 on the season.

The Bearcats will take on Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, Oct. 16 in Tacoma, Washington. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (PDT). Pacific Lutheran leads the NWC with a 6-1 record in conference action for 18 points in the standings, while Willamette holds second place at 5-2 and 15 points. The Bearcats have earned a 5-1 record in their last six games.
