LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Biola University won  all three doubles matches to grab the doubles point, and then swept the singles competition, to defeat Willamette University, 7-0, in a men's tennis match on Friday, March 8. Biola, which competes in the NAIA, upped its record to 4-3. Willamette, which competes in NCAA Division III, fell to 0-5, 0-2 in the spring. The match was played using the 7-point format in which the team winning two or all three doubles matches earns one point.

The Bearcats will complete their trip to Southern California by taking on California Lutheran University on Sunday, March 10. The match will be played in Palm Desert, California, at 10 a.m. (PDT) on the College of the Desert campus.

In doubles, the teams played regular sets instead of the pro sets used in NCAA Division III. Biola's top double team of Logan Blair and Edwin Ramos defeated Andrew Kabacy (Fr., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) and Aaron Schechter (Sr., Seattle, WA/James A. Garfield HS) of WU, 6-2.

The #3 doubles match was won by Andres Meneses and Ian Nieh of Biola, over Charles Pezeshki (Fr., Pullman, WA/Pullman HS) and Luke Hiserman (So., Monterey, CA/Pacific Grove HS), 6-2.

The Eagles did not lose a set in singles, but Blair faced a strong challenge from Kabacy before winning at the #1 position. Blair took the first set, 6-3. In the second set, Kabacy led 5-4, before Blair rallied for a 7-5 win. At #2 singles, Nieh defeated Schechter, 6-3, 6-2.
