Waters Moves Up to 7th on Willamette's All-Time List in the Hammer Throw

SALEM, Ore. -- Samantha Waters (So., Kalispell, MT/Flathead HS) of Willamette University won the women's hammer throw and moved up to seventh on Bearcats' all-time list during the Willamette vs. Humboldt State Throws on Wednesday, April 28. Eric Kaszycki (So., Santee, CA/Santana HS) of WU took first place in the men's discus while setting a personal record and also won the hammer throw.

Waters registered a top mark of 150' 4" to win the women's hammer. She moved up three spots from 10th on WU's all-time list as she increased her personal record by just over 13 feet from 137' 3". Avery Mickelsen (Jr./So., Ephrata, WA/Ephrata HS) from Willamette placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 122' 4". In the women's discus, Waters grabbed second place at 104' 3" and Mickelsen was third at 103' 1". Beka Baur of Humboldt State University won the discus with a toss of 116' 11".

Kaszycki's winning throw in the men's discus went 133' 9". His previous best was 127' 2" at the Willamette vs. Lewis & Clark Dual this season. Keaton Beckmann (Sr., Salem, OR/Sprague HS) of WU also set a personal record in the discus against Humboldt State. He registered a toss of 120' 7", surpassing his previous top mark of 118' 8" during the Willamette vs. Bushnell Dual this year.

In the men's hammer throw, Kaszycki placed first at 125' 8". Terrence Allen of HSU was second at 122' 3".

Abigail House (Fy., Oakland, OR/Oakland HS) took second place for the Bearcats in the women's shot pout. Her top throw was 32' 2".

Beckmann and Kaszycki both earned marks of 38' 7" in the men's shot put. Jared Del Real of Humboldt State won the shot put with a toss of 46' 11".

Willamette is scheduled to compete at the Northwest Conference Multi-Event Championships on Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 in McMinnville, Oregon. Action is set to get underway at 11 a.m. (PDT) each day.
